The Politics of Development is delivered with a mix of learning approaches that are designed to challenge students to self-reflect and construct solutions to real-life scenarios.

Aside from mandatory live lectures each week, students will be expected to participate in online discussions and peer learning. The course combines live case study, group work, and discussion where you will be expected to apply the learning and guidance from your tutor.

Lectures and tutorials will be delivered via our online campus, along with a mix of learning methods including audio-visual materials, practical exercises, group discussions and guided reading.

Assessment will be made via a combination of a course assignment, peer engagement quizzes, and tests.

Tuition for the course is £990

As part of the school’s commitment to increasing diversity and participation fee reductions are available for those on low incomes or in full-time higher education.

Our concession scheme entitles prospective students with financial barriers to receive between 50 and 75% reduction on fees.

Please carefully read the eligibility criteria for each scheme before applying. To be considered for the reduction you will need to meet at least three of the following criteria and provide evidence to support your application:

• 24 – 49 years old and of African decent
• A Caribbean, south, eastern, or western African national, Asian or South American national
• Currently working or entering a related career or research field
• Graduated from (or already attending) a mainstream university to study for a degree in one of the areas related to your programme of interest.
• Your family has an annual household income of £18,247 or less

Making a Concession Application

We encourage those with prohibitive financial circumstances to make applications for the concession scheme. A concession (a reduction of 50% of tuition fees) may be granted if three of the eligibility criteria are demonstrably met. Concessions are limited to three courses per person per academic year.

Along with you application form you will need to submit documentary evidence to demonstrate that you meet the criteria. Documents include:

• Recent bank statement
• Statement that you are in receipt of a state benefit (such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income-based Job Seekers’ Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, a reduction under the Council Tax Scheme (students in Wales only), Pension Credit, Carer’s Allowance)
• Statement or evidence that you are or will be a full-time student in higher education during the same academic year that the course is taking place

In addition, you must also supply the following documents:

• One document that includes a photograph of yourself to confirm your identity, for example a valid driving license or passport.
• Proof of residency or current address.
• When submitting evidence please send COPIES or SCANS ONLY, do not send original documents by post because they will not be returned.
