Overview
The acquisition and display of African arifacts in Western museums has always been a point of contention. It points to the control, distortion, and eradication of Africa’s cultural memory. In this lecture, Dr.Prah critically examines contested and controversial notions around the ‘ownership’ of cultural objects as ‘property’, provenance, and restitution of these items to African sites of origin.
